SOUND HEALING THERAPY
What is Sound Healing Therapy?
"Sound healing is the therapeutic application of sound frequencies to the body/mind of a person with the intention of bringing them into a state of harmony and health."
This can be achieved through the use of instruments or the voice to release energetic blockages, inducing a state of ease and well-being in the body. While there are many types of sound therapy, all of them produce vibrations that alter your brain waves through the process of entrainment.
Entrainment synchronises fluctuating brainwaves by providing a stable frequency which the brainwave can attune to. By using rhythm and frequency, we can entrain our brainwaves and it then becomes possible to down-shift our normal beta state (normal waking consciousness) to alpha (relaxed consciousness), and even reach theta (meditative state) and delta (deep sleep; where internal healing can occur).
When receiving sound healing, you are invited into a place of stillness where you can participate by becoming more open and aware of each sound that comes in. For those who struggle with silent meditation due to their busy minds, this can be a true reprieve from the mind. But sound not only helps with inducing relaxation and restoration, it also has a way of moving through areas of blockage.
Energetic blockages might be located in our physical bodies, our subtle bodies, or both. The physical body is where we experience localised pain/discomfort and the subtle body, where our life force energy exists, can hold imbalances and traumas long before they manifest in our physical bodies. Through the intentional application of different sound frequencies using various tools, blocked energy can be released, helping to rebalance and restore the energetic filtration system of each chakra, so that the stuck energy can be recycled back into our life force.
My growing collection of tools includes a set of seven chakra attuned crystal bowls (432Hz) and over a dozen Himalayan singing bowls of various shapes and sizes (mostly sourced from Nepal and India), which produce a huge range of sounds and frequencies. Some of the singing bowls are antique and some are professionally made (Peter Hess®) for body massage therapy.
In addition to my bowls, I also have a few more instruments which I may sometimes bring in to a session or include in a sound bath, such as Koshi wind chimes, an ocean drum, rattles, shakers, bells, a shamanic drum, and my voice.
